Ghostly figures inhabit the night--

for the two days following Halloween for Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico. I attended the festival at Teatro de La Ciudad, and captured the unique imagery.

Girls and women dress up as "La Catrina" the elegant skeleton women created by Jose Guadalupe Posada and then popularized later by French artist and historian Jean Charlot in the 1920s.

Some of the costumes are simple and others complicated...
