Red-shouldered Hawk takes flight.psd

This Red-shouldered Hawk seems to be validating his name by showing off his shoulders. Flying birds are difficult to photograph successfully but most good photos of flying birds end up depicting motion well. The perception of motion is enhanced here because the birds body is sharp but his wingtips are softened slightly by motion blur. This effect is controlled by shutter speed. The hardest part of photographing wild birds in flight is finding them and getting close enough to them to fill the frame.
